Jeep Performance Enhancers at Parts Train for the Jeep Gladiator Concept Car 2005

Why concept cars? For obvious reasons - to get a visible, tangible look at a design before production so its feel can be evaluated, possible problems can be foreseen, and, for concept cars shown to the public, so reactions of non-gear heads can be judged.
In testing particular ideas, concepts are best - for example, they could be a test bed for exterior and interior colors and materials, new controls and dashboard layouts, variations on packaging, etc.

Driving concept cars is a wonderful experience knowing you have driven a future car first hand. Designs that you can only see in futuristic movies become suddenly real and many are exaggerated versions of what will actually appear. The Jeep® Gladiator Concept Car features the historic box side-mounted spare of past models as well as an open-air canvas top, an expandable truck bed and a stowaway rear seat cushion, has a rugged functionality only found in Jeep. The engine is a 2.8-liter diesel ideal for off-roading yet environmentally friendly, since gas mileage of diesels is better and do not pollute like those of years past.

It can presumably also be run on biodiesel, which both reduces the amount of energy spent on processing and avoids toxic spills. The engine has an abundant 295 foot-pounds of torque and 163 horsepower. The short rear overhang allows a good departure angle for off-roading. There is a solid front axle, and in the rear, a trailing arm system with coil-within-a-coil. There are a front winch, front and rear locking differentials, and skid plates. On the driver's side, there is a cabin storage access panel, and a lockable storage box in front of the rear wheel where the jack is stowed.

The Gladiator looks like the shape of Wranglers to come, and rumor has it that's exactly what it is: a first try at getting the dimensions and shape of the next-generation Wrangler, due around 2006 (partly to meet new safety standards). We've been told that the Gladiator retains the classic Jeep live axles, with a similar 4x4 system and length, but with more width for better stability and comfort (the Gladiator is ten inches wider, but we suspect the actual increase will be half that). The suspension will be updated for additional capacity and safety, and we suspect some electronics will be thrown into the mix. If the Gladiator is any indication, ground clearance will also be considerably better - which will be helpful given the new competition from Hummers, Porsches, and the like.

The 2007 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) has already come to an end but it should not a cause for concern for most car lovers and aficionados. You see, the year is just starting and the list of upcoming auto shows are slowly unveiling and it means a lot more chances for people to be with the newest vehicles in the market.

In line with this, there is going yet to be another auto show. However, this one is going to be held in the Chiba Prefecture in the Asian country of Japan. The name of the show? The 2007 Tokyo Auto Salon. The show opens on the 12th this January and ends on the 14th.

During the mentioned show, Asian auto manufacturer Honda would be also showing off some of its best vehicles. In fact, the company has announced that they would be putting on display four of its newest concept vehicles – the Forza Smart 2-seater scooter, the Fit Daily Active, the Stream Exclusive, and the Stream Hyper Sport. These four were created and developed by the Honda Access Corporation, one of Honda’s subsidiary manufacturers known much for creating the best Honda aftermarket products and ignition parts.

Honda’s theme for this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon exhibit is “Be Cool, Be Chic.” According to the company, this new theme of theirs would be mainly directed at showing people just how to get around town with a touch of class. After all, the vehicles that the company would be showing off are some of the newest ideas created and developed underneath the company’s roofs.

The Honda Fit Daily Active concept vehicle is a small vehicle and it has been developed with the thought of mobile and portable gadgets that has been making its rounds in society. This vehicle comes with cameras and sensors and is mainly targeted towards the young ones who are more inclined to online games and easy means of communication.

The sole and only scooter in the line up is the Honda Forza Smart 2-seater concept. This one bears 250cc and promises to give its user high quality comfort. Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars - The Way Of The Future?

After the recent 2008 Geneva Salon International de l'Auto car convention, held between the 6th and 16th of March in Geneva, Switzerland, any self-respecting car enthusiast's first concern would likely be to find out the latest news from the motoring world. Among the most interesting cars unveiled at the auto show was Italian car manufacturer Pininfarina's new concept car, the Sintesi - Italian for synthesis - and designed to explore ideas and solutions for the cars of the future.

Using man's freedom over technology as a concept, the car was designed with a view towards a future where cars can disseminate intelligence from cross-media sources regarding traffic and security to create a continuous, transparent dialogue between the city, the road and vehicles without limiting the motorist's autonomy.

From the outside the Sintesi is a sleek sports car, but its aerodynamic exterior belies a unique design concept - rather than designing the car around its mechanics, the car and mechanics have been designed around the passenger space. The approach, known as "Liquid packaging", has overturned the car's volumetric balances, improving weight distribution and lowering the centre of gravity - giving the driver more physical space without compromising key dynamics which are essential for driving.

The car uses four modular hydrogen fuel cells - known as the Quadrivium Fuel Cells system - positioned near the wheels, with each providing 20kw of power per wheel; as well as an electric motor, with additional battery charge provided by solar panels and regenerative braking. Thanks to its sophisticated electronic architecture, the car makes modular use of the available power depending on driving conditions. Inside, the translucent dashboard displays the flow of information received and processed in real-time, lighting up when matters requiring the driver's attention occur. The car's headlights also play a part, using tele-cameras and a proximity radar system to ease the processing of information.

Though the concept of cars such as the Sinesti dominating the roads might seem like a far-fetched science fiction scenario, the concept is built on technologies already available, and could in theory create safer and better flow of traffic in the near future.

The Sinesti received much coverage in motoring news publications, both offline and online, prior to its unveiling in Geneva thanks to a teaser campaign website that received over 250,000 hits since it was launched in December.

Car enthusiasts wishing to find out additional information about the Sinesti and other motoring news are currently spoilt for choice, with dedicated websites, forums and RSS feeds ensuring that information regarding the motoring world is only a click away.

Mazda: Prepping Up For China Auto Show

Auto makers are surely prepping up their collection of vehicles that would go on display on whatever automobile or car show there is. And one international brand, Mazda, is making the Auto China 2006 no exception.

The Mazda Motor Corporation just most recently announced that during the Auto China 2006 which will be held in the Asian city of Beijing, the company would be exhibiting not only some of its top production vehicles but the company would also be showing off a couple of its concept vehicles. There would be two Mazda concept vehicles that would be gracing the show. One is the Mazda SASSOU which the Mazda B20 pickup parts creator claims to be an innovative concept vehicle that comes as a hatchback with three doors. Another concept vehicle from the auto manufacturer would be the sports car concept Mazda SENKU. The Mazda SENKU is claimed to hold a rotary engine and holds four seats. Plus, the company also does say that this one is going to be the kind of vehicle the future will have.

Both these concept vehicles are fairly new. The Mazda SASSOU was actually built and designed in the company’s Europe design center. In fact, this concept vehicle is going to make its Asian debut at the Auto China 2006 event. As per the Mazda SENKU, this one was created in the Japan center and it has already been introduced to the motoring public during last year’s Tokyo Motor Show.

Aside from the mentioned vehicles, this motor show will also be the very event where the company would also be using its new international motor show stand design for a motor show in China. According to Mazda, they would be doing such so as to let everybody else see that the company is focused on showing off their global brand message which is the Zoom-Zoom.

So what other vehicles are going to be part of the Mazda troop?

Aside from the two previously mentioned concept vehicles, another concept vehicle to grace the show would be the Mazda5 Hydrogen RE Hybrid which would be making its China premiere. Reference vehicles that would be joining the show are the Mazda5, and the Mazda MX-5 Power Retractable Hard Top. Technical vehicles that show off the kind of technology the company has are the Hydrogen RE Hybrid Engine cut model, the RENESIS engine cut model, and the Smart Idling Stop System Engine cut model. Vehicles already in the market would be the Mazda3, the Mazda6, and the Mazda RX-8.

2007 Nissan Bevel Concept Debuts at the 2007 NAIAS

Nissan has unveiled their Bevel Concept at the recent 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Bevel Concept is not conventional vehicle and you can easily tell by its door and window layout. It is a four-door vehicle which includes an extra long door located on the driver’s side, a rear hatch, and an expansive twin doors on the passenger side, and rear suicide style opening.

The back hatch with its picture window size glass is built-in into the roof to create a cavernous opening. The hatch providing a full-six feet tailgate style work bench that extends outward and have a height of approximately two inches off the ground. Nissan said that the tailgate style work bench is strong enough to sit or stand on.

The Bevel concept has a wheelbase that measures four inches longer than the Murano crossover which is another vehicle in Nissan’s lineup and was presented last year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Bevel has also relatively short overhangs with a surprisingly small overall footprint that is just 173.2 inches from nose to tail. To make up for the things that it lacks, the Bevel is provided with a bigger interior space.

With its seats up the cabin is divided into three distinct zones. The driver is provided with a futuristic looking bucket that can pass for a home in a remake of the Jetsons. Another great feature of the Bevel Concept is its seats can be folded flat to accommodate additional loads, luggage or cargoes.

The Bevel is loaded with lots of electronic gadgets ranging from its glass roof-mounted solar panels to its drive-by-wire steering, throttle, and braking. Its 20-inch wheels that features rubber inserts on the outer spoke edges enhance the Bevel’s aesthetic appeal while at the same time protects against curb damage.

There is nothing conventional with the Bevel Concept its asymmetric glass roof with its distinctive puck-shaped tie downs up to its yoke style steering wheel screams exclusivity. And that’s not all! Both headlights & tail lights are hidden same with its rear LCD lamps that are concealed under the paint job. Car gadget lovers will definitely have fun with the not so ordinary door handles that the Bevel Concept is equipped with—this car is provided with touch-sensitive release keypads.

According to Bruce Campbell, Vice President of Design at Nissan Design America and the automaker’s styling connoisseur in La Jolla, California, "Our goal in designing the Bevel exterior was to maximize functionality and minimize the use of visual distractions such as door handles, big exhaust pipes, or splashy lighting. At the same time, we wanted the little details to reflect Bevel's utility theme, which is why there is a recurring use of hexagons in the vehicle's design - reminiscent of a socket or a tool - in the wheels, grille, and even the disc brake venting."

Fast and Furious - Cars in Film

When Universal launched the Fast and the Furious series of street racing films, they only expected only a modest return. Although street racing was getting a lot of press attention and the popularity of modified imports were exploding, the movies was never expected to be a blockbuster. However, the film was an unexpected summer hit. It grossed $40,089,015 on its opening weekend, surpassing the film's $38 million budget. It may have been the media buzz and gear head buzz surrounding the movies that caused an explosion in the box office and gave global insight and curiosity into the supercharged social scene of racing and customizing cars.

Two of the films' stars that caused the movies to thunder in the box office, were the Mazda RX7 and the Mitsubishi Eclipse. One of Japan's largest automotive aftermarket companies, Veilside, built the Mazda RX7 that was later filmed in Fast and Furious to show off its "Fortune" wide-body kit at the 2005 Tokyo Auto Salon. At the time of the show, the car was painted red, and it had everything a show car should - an HKS T04Z single-turbo conversion kit, a massive intercooler shoved under the front bumper, big Rotora brakes, A'PEXi coil-over shocks and vast 19-inch Andrew Evo-V wheels inside P255/30ZR19 front and P305/25ZR19 rear Toyo Proxes radials.

For the Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift, the same Mazda RX7 was painted Sunset Orange Pearl and Veilside built three more visual clones, including one that was destined for destruction using a previous Mazda RX7 that had appeared in both previous Fast and Furious movies. One of the cars used in the previous Fast and Furious movie was Dominic Toretto's red RX.

In the sequel to the Fast & Furious, 2 Fast, 2 Furious, the character Roman Pierce was given a new partner in his adventure, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder with a Snyper Body Kit. The car was personally picked by John Singleton for Pierce to drive and the car came equipped with a Vortech Supercharger V5 G trim, HKS Blow valve, HKS AFR (fuel management controller), RC engineering 270cc injectors, Boost Variant Fuel Pressure Regulator with Gauge and a Magnecor 8.5mil Competition wires and a license plate that said "H8TER."

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder had the most elaborate paint job of any of the cars built for any of the Fast & Furious movies. The patchwork design on the car were not graphics but painted on with House of Kolors paint. It was one of the few cars in the film that wasn't destroyed although a total of four were made for the filming. It is rumored that the car exhaust was swapped with a Subaru WRX.

Like all cars in the Fast & Furious series, both cars were heavily reinforced with a roll cage for bridge jumping. Also there was so much neon lighting used in the cars that a technical specialist whose expertise was in shooting neon on film was kept on set at all times. This obviously cost a lot more and cut into the budget but it made the film authentic.

The Blessing Game: On The Road

Have you ever been in a position when you want to pass someone on the road and the person doesn’t budge? You get angry and aggravated and soon you will start saying bad names and then your driving gets worse because of the stress and on and on?

This is the best time to play the Blessing Game. This is how I do it:

Before I leave my house, I bless everyone that I will encounter, especially the ones on the road with me. Now, when I am driving, I bless anyone who is on the faster lane and refuses to make way (Californians are notorious for this—they can’t grasp the concept that the fast lane is for those who go fast, regardless of the fact that they may be disobeying the speed limit, which, by the way, I never do).

Soon enough, if the person accepts your blessing, he or she will go to the right and let me pass. If they don’t accept my blessings, the universe will open a way for me to pass through the right. Rarely is the time when I have to wait for more than a minute to pass the person in front of me, one way or another.

Of course, you may still be mad when you send the blessings, but wouldn’t you rather say: “blessings, you jerk,” than only: “get away, you idiot?” If nothing else, you will feel better, and that is what it counts. Sooner you will learn to disengage your anger and just plain bless the person.

Before I forget, you can also bless every poor soul whose car is broken along the way. I am sure they will appreciate that. I go like this: when I see a distressed car on the road, I bless the person who owns the car and his or her entire family. That feels extra good!

Hot Car Audio

Technology has made it possible to experience entire new levels of entertainment. Car audio has always been important to a large number of the population. However, it has continued to grow in popularity due to new changes and products on the market. There are so many car audio accessories to choose from that everyone will find something that appeals to them. Stereo equipment and speakers are among the most highly sought after audio components. Better sound and music capabilities is vital to many drivers. The hottest trends in auto accessories are items that turn your vehicle into a happening place to be.

Most people have heard the name iPod. The iPod has quickly taken over how most of us choose to enjoy music. A music storage device like the iPod or a MP3 player is an easy and convenient way to carry around all of your favorite music. Some of these devices hold hundreds or even thousands of songs. It is easy to use one by simply plugging into your computer and downloading. It is portable and docks in the car so that you can listen to it anywhere you go. These are hot items for the car because it enables drivers to listen to their own music without carrying a load of CDs.

Satellite radios have been quite popular for a few years now. It is a wonderful way to tap into radio stations from all over the world as well as receive specialty stations. Listen to all country, 80s rock or sports radio all the time for a fair monthly fee. Many vehicles now come from the dealership with satellite radio already installed but it can easily be installed at home. The kits can be purchased from such places as Wal-Mart and Best Buy. It comes with everything that you need to get started.

Speakers systems and various speaker accessories are always huge with most drivers. Factory systems simply are not all that great in comparison. Upgrading to new speakers is one of the best ways to improve sound, even if you do not go high end. Sub woofers are everyone's favorite. They add great bass sound to music of all kinds. Speakers are hot for car audio but they must be purchased with care. Do some information digging first so you know that you are getting the right product for you. Keep in mind that some speakers are designed for specific car models or shapes. Ask a professional for assistance if needed.

Always hold on to any receipts that you receive for any car audio or electronic equipment. If there is a defect you will need a receipt to get a refund or replacement. For high end items that are rather expensive, it is best to get all warranty information up front and keep it handy in case you need to refer to it. Car audio can be a lot of fun to investigate and use. Make sure that you are not distracted by it while driving though. Audio accessories are more enjoyable when used in a safe manner.
